Synopsis In this visionary historical drama set in the days leading up to the Civil War, Errol Flynn portrays 1854 West Point cadet James Ewell Brown Stuart who, along with fellow cadet George Armstrong Custer, is assigned the dangerous task of capturing violent abolitionist John Brown. Under the command of Robert E. Lee, the graduates are sent to Kansas where the legendary Brown has been waging a bloody campaign to end slavery. While the Union troops pursue Brown and his followers, Stuart and Custer vie for the affections of Kit Carson Holliday, the daughter of transportation magnate Cyrus K. Holliday who hopes to extend his railroad into New Mexico along the Santa Fe Trail.
